“If you had the chance to visit Jake in the hospital, you’d never know he needs a new heart. Full of vitality and good humor, this 18 month old has a smile that makes all the nurses giggle. The truth is, he isn’t well at all. Diagnosed with end-stage dilated cardiomyopathy, Jake will have to stay in the Hospital until the transplant occurs. He misses his twin sisters, family, and friends. His parents are doing everything they can, and while they’d never say so, they need your help as Jake waits for a heart….

Please take a minute to read this letter from Jake’s parents.

Update: On Saturday, March 24, 2015 after waiting over 100 days in the hospital, Shannon and Andrew got the call that a heart was available for Jake. At approximately 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning, his new heart was in and ‘pumping’. Our hearts are heavy for the donor family who made the selfless act of giving Jake and his family the greatest gift possible. Their child is our hero and will live on through Jake. The love that you have shown for Jake is what we consider true generosity. To quote William Shakespeare ‘We can no other answer make, but, thanks, and thanks.’

Now that Jake has received his new heart, it is going to be a long road to recovery. Please continue to pray and show your support for Jake as he continues his battle to return back home to his family.

Thank you from the close friends and family of Jake.”
